When I first moved to Oahu, Hawaii I dreamt of seeing the view at Crouching Lion, an epic hike on the east side of the island. I remember the first time I hiked this mountain I was blown away by the view. It was even better than the photos I had seen online! I immediately started dreaming of how dreamy a couples session or elopement at crouching lion would look like! Unfortunately I never got the chance to shoot there as the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic began and stay at home orders were put into place.

During the lockdown I missed photographing couples so much. Thankfully many of the island’s hikes remained open for exercise, including Crouching Lion. I decided to challenge myself and get out my tripod to photograph a self portrait styled elopement at crouching lion. I packed up my gear and my props, and got to hiking! Thankfully I had a very helpful and handsome assistant/model that day!

This was the first photoshoot I felt super proud to call mine! It was challenging and pushed me creatively but was ultimately worth the risk. I loved the turnout of these photos, both for myself and my portfolio. And yes, I did end up hanging these on my wall 😉
