When booking photos one of the questions you might have is “what time of day should we schedule our photos?” While I am confident we can create beautiful images no matter what time of day you choose, I will always recommend choosing golden hour. You might be wondering what the heck that even is and why you should choose golden hour for your photos.

Golden hour is typically the first hour after sunrise or the last hour before sunset. I say typically because golden hour can actually be shorter or longer than an hour based on the lighting on that particular day, but as a rule of thumb, an hour is a good estimate. No worries though, I can help determine what time golden hour will be on the day of our shoot if that is the time you would like to schedule for.

Now, why should you choose golden hour for your photos? If you love the look of dreamy, glowing, sun-kissed images then golden hour lighting is what you’re looking for. The light at this time of day is softer and warmer than during the middle of the day. If you are a sunset or sunrise lover, choosing golden hour will also allow for some images to be taken when the sky is lit up with its most stunning colors. Just take a look at these images taken during golden hour if you need help visualizing what I mean.
