Planning your dream elopement can seem overwhelming but this quick guide will help narrow things down and get you on the right track. Your elopement plans can revolve around a number of things but the good news is YOU get to decide what you want your day to look like. First things first, ask yourself these questions: Where do you want to elope? Do you have a date picked out? What logistics are involved? What details are most important to you as a couple?

First things first, you have to narrow down the where and when of the big day. One of the biggest things I love about elopements is that they can happen literally anywhere in the world! Want to get married on a mountain top? By the beach? In a national park? The sky is truly the limit so dream big! Maybe your elopement is the perfect excuse to finally visit that amazing destination you have always dreamed of traveling to. Once you narrow down the location you can also choose a date that best suits your needs and coincides with the best time of year to travel for your big day.

The next big thing is logistics! Luckily when it comes to elopements there are only three major ones to consider. The first and most important, your marriage license! You can’t get married without it so once you decide on a location be sure to look into how to obtain your marriage license in that area. If your elopement location is not local to you be sure to have a game plan on how you will obtain your marriage license before the big day. Going hand in hand with your marriage license is finding an officiant! Every location has different laws for officiants so be sure to look this up and find someone who can sign your license to make it legal. The last major logistic you will need to consider is permits. When eloping somewhere epic be sure to check into any required permits ASAP for the location of your choosing. National parks especially require permits and sometimes reservations for holding a ceremony in a particular location & there are often a limited number of permits for any given date.

The last thing to consider when planning your dream elopement is the details. This is the fun part so my advice is to dream big! Will anyone be joining you on the big day or will it just be the two of you? Either way, be sure to plan some fun accommodations for yourself. Maybe rent a cute air bnb or splurge on a nice hotel! Do you want to do any exploring in the area or enjoy any local activities? Some fun ideas might be renting a boat for a sunset sail, hiking a local trail with a stunning viewpoint, or shopping for homemade goodies at a farmers market. Take advantage of whatever the location you choose to elope in has to offer.

However big or small your day is going to be, make sure to keep the details that matter the most to you and your partner at the forefront when planning your dream elopement! I can’t wait to be a part of it with you!
