As a brand photographer, I’m always drawn to projects that blend lifestyle and landscape—especially when they reflect both personal roots and a brand’s soul. Augustine Hat Co. is one of those brands that gets it. Their designs are inspired by travels under the salty air and desert sun, and their Milly Raffia Cowgirl Hat captures that free-spirited, coastal-meets-cowgirl energy perfectly.
For this shoot, we embraced the best of both worlds: styling the Milly hat in my hometown of Cave Creek, Arizona, a desert town known for its laid-back charm and touch of western nostalgia. Surrounded by towering cacti, dusty trails, and the character-filled corners of Frontier Town, we leaned into the natural textures and golden tones of the desert while nodding to the hat’s western roots.
The vibe? Sun-washed, effortless, and a little bit wild. The Milly’s breathable raffia and relaxed silhouette looked right at home among the saguaros and vintage signage—proof that a hat can feel just as fitting on a road trip through the Southwest as it does on a coastal weekend getaway.
Working with Augustine Hat Co. always feels like a creative match. Their pieces are more than accessories—they’re made for movement, moments, and memories under open skies. This shoot was a celebration of that spirit: grounded in the desert, carried by the wind.
