I was beyond excited to capture Sitting on Saturn’s first time playing The Observatory in Orange County after selling out their smaller Constellation Room multiple times. Little did anyone know, this would also be the last time the group would be performing a local show under the name Sitting on Stacy before announcing their name change. I am absolutely honored to have been able to capture both a first and a last for one of my long-time favorite bands.
One of the highlights of the night for me was hearing some of my favorite songs live, including “Creme Brulee” from their album Looking Past Red Flags. It’s a track I’ve loved since the first time I heard it, and seeing it come to life in a new venue was truly special. The band also introduced a brand-new song, “Rose Colored Glasses,” which I can’t wait to be released.
The night was made even more personal for me when they closed with “Babygirl,” a song I’ve loved for years. I used to listen to a video recording of this song from a show I attended in LA before it was officially released, and hearing it live again was a full-circle moment I’ll never forget.
This show at The Observatory was such a blast, and I’m so grateful to be there capturing these moments. It’s been such a rewarding experience working with Sitting on Saturn, and I’m excited to see what’s next for them.
