I’ve been a fan of Sitting on Saturn (formerly known as Sitting on Stacy) for several years, so when I had the chance to photograph their show at Belly Up Tavern in San Diego, I couldn’t have been more stoked. The band—comprising of lead singer and guitarist Hoyt Yeatman, bassist Kyle Hart, drummer Trevor Smith, and joined by brass player Josh Horita, as always delivered a high energy performance they’ve come to be known for.
What makes working with Sitting on Saturn even more special is the story behind how it all came about. I met Hoyt by pure chance while in Catalina Island last summer and was able to share how much I loved his music. It’s funny how life works sometimes; a random encounter turned into the opportunity to photograph the band I’ve loved for years. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting the rest of the band and this show marked the beginning of our collaboration.
The energy at Belly Up was electric, and I had an amazing time capturing moments from the night. The band’s chemistry, their passion, and the crowd’s excitement all made for some truly memorable shots. It’s been an incredible experience working with such a talented group of musicians. Thank you to Sitting on Saturn for letting me be a part of their world—here’s to many more shows!
